A historic Warwickshire venue has added another trophy to its long list of awards after claiming a top prize at a prestigious national ceremony.

Coombe Abbey Hotel scooped a Gold award for Best UK Unusual Venue at the M&IT Awards 2019.

The national ceremony recognises the most impressive establishments and organisations within the events industry.

It’s the third successive year that the Brinklow-based venue has been awarded the accolade, after it beat the likes of Alton Towers and the Natural History Museum in front of a packed crowd at Battersea Evolution in London.

Coombe Abbey was also a finalist in the Best UK Hotel category, as 15 individual titles were handed out at the ceremony hosted by trade and events magazine M&IT, which recognises the best venues, suppliers, agencies and airlines in the industry nationwide.

Ron Terry, general manager of Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “We were delighted to be nominated for this award, and to come away with the top prize yet again is a fantastic feeling.

“The M&IT awards are among the most prestigious in the industry, and to once again receive recognition from voters, which are guests of Coombe Abbey makes the win even better.

“Being named among such a strong group of finalists is a great compliment to our staff, and I’d like to thank everyone at Coombe Abbey for their hard work over the last year in helping to make that happen.”

The 12th century hotel has more than 100 rooms to host guests, and is well known for its conferencing and meeting facilities, as well as hosting live events throughout the year, alongside its award-winning afternoon tea.

Ron highlighted Coombe Abbey Hotel’s historical influences as one of the major reasons for its latest awards scoop.

He said: “We take pride in our history at Coombe Abbey, and that is evident in the high-quality experience on offer to our guests.

“It’s fantastic to know that we have been recognised once again for our individuality as we look to build on our comprehensive calendar of events and entertainment.

“Regular visitors at Coombe will know what an excellent venue it is, and what really sets it apart is the fact that there really is nowhere quite like it.”
