Sector Strengths

Coventry and Warwickshire is home to the UK’s automotive industry and we are proud of our reputation as a world-class centre for advanced manufacturing and engineering.

It seems a natural progression, therefore, that the region is also an established leader in the development of driverless technology and low carbon technologies.

Although manufacturing is our bread and butter, the region is also home to one of the largest gaming clusters in the UK. Warwickshire has been named ‘Silicon Spa’ thanks to over 30 gaming studios.

We also have a whole host of tourist attractions, sports venues, theatres and historical sites so it is not surprise that Coventry was given the title as UK City of Culture 2021.

Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering

Coventry and Warwickshire is home to 1,500 automotive businesses, with 16 of the top 20 global first tier suppliers located within the area. The automotive industry employs 34,000 people directly in the region, this is 500% more than the UK average. The regions manufacturing heritage is combined with world class Universities and Research facilities with a strong focus on pioneering advances in manufacturing and engineering.

Intelligent Mobility

Due to our success in automotive manufacturing it's natural progression to be at the forefront of driverless technology and low carbon technologies. Together we lead the way on Intelligent Mobility – merging the transport sector with digital communications and sensing technologies. The region is home to a number of prestigious businesses operating in electric, electric hybrid, fuel cells and hydrogen power systems.

Creative Industries and ICT

Warwickshire has more than 30 gaming studios, making us one of the largest gaming clusters in the UK. These businesses are responsible for some of the best known titles in the world, including console blockbusters like Forza Horizon and Guitar Hero Live, mobile hits like Warhammer and Sonic Jump and computer games such as LA Cops.
