The Conference Coventry and Warwickshire team is here to provide you with a hopeful spring update, with the latest news on our venues and the gradual easing of government roadmap rules.

Although we are currently still under some restrictions, we want to assure you that we are always on hand to offer our support for your future plans, whenever you may need it.

Last month, the Coventry City of Culture Trust unveiled its 'flexible' festival programme, featuring an array of new events, as well as reaffirmed its commitment to present several major and ambitious undertakings, previously announced last year.

CSW COVID Business Pledge launched

Coventry City, Solihull and Warwickshire County Councils are launching a Business Pledge for all businesses, including shops and hospitality, to help reassure staff and customers that businesses and venues here are operating in a COVID secure manner.

The Pledge is being developed in preparation for the second step of the roadmap out of lockdown.

By taking the Pledge, businesses agree to work towards a number of measures to ensure their premises and staff are taking all the necessary precautions to be COVID secure. It is also another tool that businesses can use to promote to customers and show what they are doing to tackle COVID in their premises.

More details of the Business Pledge are to be released within the coming weeks. For more information, please keep checking Coventry City Council’s website, where you can also find out about “We’re Good To Go” - the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

Venue site visit update

On 18 March 2021, following discussions with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports (DCMS), the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) and Cabinet Office have agreed a change in the rules around visiting business premises for the purposes of event planning.

Now that the stay-at-home restriction has been lifted, visiting a business event venue for the purpose of viewing its facilities to plan a future work-based event, even if the venue is otherwise closed, will now be permitted if this cannot be reasonable done remotely.

E-scooters, buses on-demand and Enterprise Car Club vehicles are just some of the innovative transport projects being looked at to reduce personal car use under a two-year trial at the University of Warwick. The Future Transport Showcase will involve several new projects aimed at reducing private vehicle usage, cutting carbon emissions and creating a safer, more environmentally friendly campus.
